Just a quick note to say that I’m now in Los Angeles for this year’s E3! I’ll be writing plenty of stuff for GameSpot over the coming week, so keep an eye on my profile, follow my Twitter feed or just head over to the main GameSpot E3 page for all the info.
Tipped off by a post on Lifehacker, I downloaded a new piece of software called Boxee for the Mac yesterday. Currently in alpha, the project is essentially a new frontend for Xbox Media Center, only with added social interaction. This means that you can see what your friends think about films/albums/TV shows, while you can broadcast your recommendations over services such as Twitter.
As media centers become more and more common in the home, Boxee offers a glimpse at the future of media consumption and sharing. Checking out trailers of my friends’ favourite films, listening to my last.fm radio stream and watching Revision3 shows from one single interface is really powerful, and while Boxee is still young and relatively buggy, it’s definitely something I’ll be keeping an eye on.
Time for another Wii Fit update now, and after a few days travelling the world and having to play other games, I’m back on it again. Check out the video below and then track GameSpot editors’ progress on the main Wii Fit blog.
My first video review has just gone up on GameSpot, for GRID from Codemasters! We’re just getting into the swing of doing video reviews — sending HD footage between international teams is a bit of a nightmare — but I really enjoyed doing it. The game itself is also well worth checking out, so read the review here.
In case you missed it last week, we were at Ubidays covering off the French publisher’s 2008 schedule. All the previews can be seen on GameSpot (shameless plug: check out Far Cry 2 and Soul Calibur IV!), but in the meantime here’s a particularly nice shot of our video editor Ash underneath the Eiffel Tower.
I am the Editor of GameSpot UK--be sure to check out the GameSpot UK Podcast and Start/Select. I am also the games expert for BBC Radio 5 live's Saturday Edition. I have previously written for CNET.co.uk, The Telegraph, Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition, and HotDog magazine.
